The two most prominent family members figuring in the collection are George Kinkead and his father William Bury Kinkead, both of whom were Lexington attorneys. George graduated from Princeton University in 1870. After further study in his father's law office, Kinkead was admitted to the bar in 1872. He practiced law to the time of his death in 1940.
